CAMs: Mediation
This article is written to help give you a closer look at meditation for cancer patients.
Meditation can be a helpful technique for cancer patients to alleviate symptoms of illness and improve mental well-being. This practice incorporates mindfulness and deep breathing.[1] Mindfulness is a non-judgmental awareness of the present moment including one’s thoughts, feelings, surroundings, and body.[2] There are many different types of mediation, but the common principles include: a quiet surrounding, a specific posture or movement, and a focus on a word, phrase, object, or breathing.[3]
